Isn’t it funny that we all agree that our health is our most important asset, yet we ignore the most effective, most enjoyable and least expensive way to improve our health while going to much effort and expense to use something that has pages of side effects that can be harmful to our health and be even life threatening?  Oops, I misspoke.  If it were really funny, it would have some value.  It is really irrational!

I know you have heard the statement, “Laughter is the best medicine”, maybe even said it.  Did you know it is really true?  Even books have been written by people who have cured themselves of fatal diseases through laughter.  So, are you willing to give it a try to help yourself feel better?  If it seems too difficult to find something to laugh about, spend some time with young children.  It’s said they laugh as much as 400 times a day.  Can you remember the last time you really laughed?  Out loud?

Consider these reasons for laughing, compiled by Leigh Anne Lasheway in “Don’t Get Mad Get Funny!” © 1996

1.      Increases antibodies in saliva that combats upper respiratory infections
2.      Secretes an enzyme that protects the stomach from forming ulcers
3.      Conditions the abdominal muscles
4.      Relaxes muscles throughout the body
5.      Aids in reducing symptoms of neuralgia and rheumatism
6.      Changes perspective
7.      Has positive benefits on mental functions
8.      Reduces blood pressure and heart rate
9.      Helps the body fight infection
10.    Releases endorphins which provide natural pain relief
11.    Helps move nutrients and oxygen to body tissues

If that’s not enough to make you reach for the funny pages, I don’t know what will!

SILVA SUCCESS STORIES

“When I first took The Silva Method class many years ago, my life showed many symptoms of stress.  Among other things, I had allergies, TMJ and neck and shoulder tension and sleeplessness. The stress reduction techniques in the class were very effective and I began going to sleep as soon as I went to bed and sleeping a restful nights sleep.  The tension in my body faded away and my allergies disappeared.

“After about 2 ½ year I decided to use the techniques to find a job I could enjoy.  I was very methodical about my goal setting.  First I wrote on 4 x 6 index cards a detailed description of the ideal job for me.  I even wrote the type of people I wanted to work with.  And thinking that it would be in the computer field, I titled my goal “New Job: Comp.”  Then I programmed with the Silva goal setting technique daily.  I shouldn’t have been surprised when my new job turned out to be selling compressors.  And, it is the ideal job for me.”             Bob Stiles

“Marjorie, thank you so much for ‘selling me’ on attending your live seminar.  FANTASTIC!  You may remember, I had listened to a recorded Silva program about a year earlier.  Good stuff, BUT – the live seminars are IT!  Thank you!”              Dave Beyer

“On Sunday evening after learning ‘habit control’ in the class I began programming that within 30 days I would stop smoking and have no desire to smoke again.  By the end of the week I realized I had not been smoking and really had no desire to smoke, even at a party where I usually smoked excessively.  This Silva Method is great!”              Ann

“I’ve been really successful at programming to control my temper while driving – I drive a long way to and from work and see a lot of bad drivers.  To get control I went into a deep relaxed state at night and told myself that losing my temper wasn’t good for me – that I could better use that energy somewhere else.  I programmed myself (saw myself in my imagination) being in control of my emotions.

“I quickly saw results, which gave me confidence and belief that this really works for me!  I realized that with just a little consistent effort I can move negative energy into something positive and change the way I see things and change how my life goes.”              William
